Tell us about your NOW (Noodle On The Wall).
I am an independent College Counselor and my NOW is Guide Us. Guide Us helps high school students with the college process. My family-focused, student-sensitive approach has successfully opened the doors of universities and colleges, allowing my clients to achieve their academic goals and choose a career direction.
Is your NOW simmering, al dente or fully cooked and why?
I work with students starting as young as 9th grade. A majority of my clients start with me in 11th grade and I guide them through the college admissions process. I work with students from Rockland, Bergen and Westchester Counties as well as New York City. Most of the clients that come to me are referrals from current and former clients. My business continues to grow each year and I am grateful.
What recipes can you give other Creative Moms Taking On The Creative?
I think if you want to do something and you put time and effort into it, anything can be achieved. No one really motivated me to create my business; I just knew what I wanted in my life and for my family and I set goals and went for it. It took me a long time to identify with who I was in the context of my career, but once I embraced it…it was inspiring.

What motivated you to throw your noodle?
I started working as a High School Guidance counselor back in 1996. I worked in two different High Schools for a total of 8 years. While I was pregnant with Ian, my first son, I knew I didn’t want to work in a school and be away from him for too long. So my business was born. Going into my 9th year as an Independent Counselor, my business continues to grow and be successful.
What inspires you as a Mom and as a creative person?
What inspires me as mom is continuing to have a connection with my two sons. Being present in their lives is something that is my first priority. I never saw myself as a creative person and I have no formal business background, yet I have managed to create a successful business doing what I love while having the flexibility to be a mommy as well.

How do you juggle Mamahood and your NOW?
The way I juggle mamahood and work is I work very hard during my 5 month busy season and really spend quality time with my boys during my off season. I ask for more help, babysitters grandparents etc. during the busy season. When things are quiet, I appreciate the little things like being able to do homework with Ian every day after school.
What is your ultimate pasta dish?
I see my business continuing to grow and grow. I would like a larger clientele, have a beautiful office space. I would also like to have more people work for me as my business gets larger.
