Tell us about your NOW (Noodle On the Wall)
After the birth of my son, a struggle with breast feeding and a need for something to wear, started Au Fait Mama. It really all started out of my own personal need and grew from there once I realized I wasn't alone. I set out to create a breast feeding top that was easy to use, looked stylish and most importantly, made me feel good when I wore it! It evolved into 3 styles and a nursing scarf that I'm honored to share with my fellow mamas.

Is your NOW simmering, al dente or fully cooked and why?
Definitely simmering! There are several pots on the stove all steaming away. I feel like I'm testing my recipes and getting them ready to feed my guests. I'm excited to show everyone the Spring/Summer collection!
What recipes can you give other Creative Moms Taking On The Creative?
Trust your instincts and find mentorship from other business owner and creative moms. It's amazing how clearly the answers come to you when you get an opportunity to talk with someone about your challenges and accomplishments. You realize you often already knew what you needed, but you just couldn't see it through all of your thoughts!

McMahon Family
What motivated you to throw your noodle?
My family, my own need to be creative and my passion too help others. My other career is in costumes in the film industry and as much as I love it and its challenges, I really craved something that was for me. I'd always imagined I would have my own business, but I was unsure of what sort of business it would be. Once my son was born, it just seemed so clear to me. I could see a need and a solution. It just clicked and I knew I had to jump in and create Au Fait Mama.
What inspires you as a Mom and as a creative person?
Nothing makes me happier that hearing from a mother who is excited and happy with her Au Fait Mama top! It just brings a big smile to my face and reminds me that this is why I run my business. I know from experience that early days of motherhood are hard. If Au Fait Mama can help a mother feel the tiniest bit better it's all worth it. I know I'm just talking about a shirt, but sometimes that's all it takes!

How do you juggle Mamahood and your NOW?
I'd be lying if I didn't say its a challenge! I juggle it the best I can and try to be easy on myself. My son is 3 and still naps which is amazing, so this is when I get a lot of work done. Also, evenings and on the days I have help. I try to be present for my mom time since I know he's growing up so fast and I want to savor it. I have another baby on the way so you might have to ask me this question in the spring....hopefully I still have at least a few balls in the air!

What is your ultimate pasta dish?
My ultimate dish would be seeing Au Fait Mama in retailers across Canada and hopefully starting in the United States. Growing the collection to include more styles and patterns from maternity to nursing. Ideally giving breast feeding mamas more options so they can continue to feel good about themselves and their choice to breast feed!
