Our latest Stick Of The Week! is Rebecca Earl. Rebecca is in the NOW as founder and owner of The Sugar Plum Sleep Co., a Toronto based infant and child sleep consulting practice. "My goal is to affect positive change in the lives of children and their families by giving the gift of sleep."
Rebecca Earl is an only child (because she didn't sleep until she was 2). She is a wife, a mom, a people watcher and a day dreamer. She also has a serious sweet tooth, is not afraid to dance in public and loves to sleep.
Tell us about your NOW (Noodle On the Wall)
I am the founder and owner of The Sugar Plum Sleep Co. I work with families to develop customized and easy to follow sleep training solutions that teach infants and children the skills necessary to sleep happily through the night and take long, restful naps during the day.
Is your NOW simmering, al dente or fully cooked and why?
Lately, my NOW is at a rapid boil. I think my approach to educating families on the special sleep needs of infants and children combined with follow up support has been instrumental in establishing a satisfied clientele. I am constantly looking for new and creative ways to reach my audience, both locally and abroad. Collaborating with others has also been an effective tool for getting my NOW established.
What recipes can you give other Creative Moms Taking On The Creative?
Be passionate about what you do. Be honest. Provide quality. Manage expectations. Deliver on your promise. Share your successes. Repeat.

What motivated you to throw your noodle?
My first son only liked to nap for 30 minutes. This made it impossible to look after myself and my family. I sought out sleep training to help him develop independent sleep skills and I became a happier, more positive parent and wife as a result.

Not wanting to repeat history, we helped to foster healthy sleep skills from a very early age with my second son (you can actually set a watch by his internal clock). The impact that well rested children has on a family is wide reaching and powerful. I wanted to be a part of that somehow. When the opportunity to train and mentor under one of the world's most respected child sleep authorities was presented to me earlier this year, I couldn't say no. Changing the trajectory of my career path has been one of the best decisions I have made.
What inspires you as a Mom and as a creative person?
As a mom to two young boys, I strongly believe in the power of sleep. Experiencing first hand how well-rested children are better equipped to adjust and adapt to the big world that surrounds them, encourages me to share my expertise with others. Too often I see children struggling from the effects of sleep loss. The consequences on their families and the community at large are very real, but are often dismissed. Seeing the positive impact I have with my clients and my own children, constantly motivates me to continue working in this capacity. Being able to change someone's life for the better is a pretty powerful motivator.
How do you juggle Mamahood and your NOW?
This is a work in progress and I am experimenting with different recipes. Lately, I've been staying up a little past my bedtime to get work done (shhhh, don't tell anyone!). I also rely on our current childcare arrangements to dedicate time to my growing business, but it's a priority for me to spend one-on-one time with each of my boys every day. My husband, close friends and my parents have also been extremely supportive in my new role as an entrepreneur.
What is your ultimate pasta dish?
Literally? I love spaghetti and have perfected my recipe. It tastes exactly how I remember it from my childhood.
Professionally? I would like The Sugar Plum Sleep Co. to be my only noodle dish (and I'd like those noodles to stick to the wall).
