Our Stick Of The Week! is Amber Schmitz. Amber is in the NOW as owner and designer of Tidy Lady Printables, helping women get organized in a fun, creative way by offering printable organizer sheets to gain clarity, focus and control over their lives.
I am a free-spririt drawn to the creative process and love helping others. I live with my fiance, Justin and 7-year-old stepson Mason. When I'm not making printables you can find me doing yoga, cooking a good healthy meal or hands deep in our major house remodel.
Tell us about your NOW (Noodle On the Wall)
My NOW is my business Tidy Lady Printables. This business was born from the necessity and motivation to get organized and the desire to share these tools with other women. It's so easy for all of us to be running from point A to point B with no focus because we all try to juggle and do so much. I've created hundreds of printable organizer sheets for women to manage all of their tasks both personally and professionally in a fun, creative way.

Is your NOW simmering, al dente or fully cooked and why?
I would say my NOW is still at the simmering stage. Tidy Lady Printables is just an infant, born in February of this year. So far, it has been such an amazing experience. I just love meeting all these women from around the world and knowing that I am giving them tools that make their lives a little bit easier.
What recipes can you give other Creative Moms Taking On The Creative?
Of course I have to say this, but ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE! It's so cliche but so true! When I made it a priority in my life to sit down and become organized with systems and printables, I literally found hours of time I never knew existed. It was really amazing. When you clear the clutter and put things on autopilot, space and clarity are yours for the taking. And for me, when there is space and clarity, that's when I do my best creative work.

What motivated you to throw your noodle?
We only live once and why keep the magic bottled inside? I really wanted to work for myself, but I also wanted to do something creative that would inspire and help others. To me, this is the perfect way to meld the two.

What inspires you as a Mom and as a creative person?
Letting go of how things "should" be and loving how my life and my art is today. My 7-year old step-son, Mason inspires me and teaches me this all the time. Mason has been in love with dragons and that's all he draws. His dragons are beautiful in that they are his and he puts all his might into drawing these colorful circles with sharp teeth, but they don't always resemble true dragons. So last Christmas, I decided to get him a book titled "How to Draw Dragons." This book was filled with amazing real-life dragons you could learn to draw, I thought he'd love it. When the time came to give him the gift he opened it up and paged through it politely and then closed it. He simply said, "I like the dragons I draw the best, these don't even have bright colors." At first I was hurt that he didn't like the book, but then it occured to me that this is one of the most valuable lessons that we often lose while entering adulthood. He loves his art just how it is, because it is his and it came from inside. It doesn't have to be like anyone else's and it doesn't have to be "perfect" or "right." It just has to be meaningful and special to you. This inspires me every time I create.

How do you juggle Mamahood and your NOW?
Right now I do have a lot of time to work on Tidy Lady Printables. We have Mason 3-4 days a week but the days we do not have him I can get a lot done. It's looking like that all might change in a year or so though so I need to take the time now while I have it before there's more to juggle :)
What is your ultimate pasta dish?
I think teaching women and actually going into homes to help organize and re-decorate would be the ultimate reward. Incorporating printable organizers and tools of course, but also working one-on-one with women and seeing the satisfaction of clearing the clutter, organizing, setting up systems and making a home a sanctuary. This would be extremelly fufilling.
