Marin Bach and her two incredible children are under The Noodle Spotlight! Marin is a multi-passsionate mompreneur and the proud mama to Autumn, 10 and Jonah 9. Her true mission in life is to support women to know their value. All her work has been a reflection of that purpose. As a labor doula, sacred childbirth educator, ritualist and women's circle facilitator, Marin has always strived to connect women with their inner power and stregnthen the bonds of sisterhood.
Her best moment this week was when her daughter announced, "I'm going to publish a book and I'm going to have a nice time hanging out and being friends with JK Rowling." She revels in the role of unconditional "champion" for her two amazing kids and Takes On The Creative with them while making the world a better place.
I'm always seeking ways to teach my children about things that I believe are the most important; like love, kindness and being a powerful light in the world. I think the more we model self-love as mothers, the more our children will learn to love themselves. In my opinion, there is no greater gift we can give than having them connect with their true value. Imagine! If every kid in the world could grow up knowing..."I am enough. I am worthy. I am perfect just the way I am." The world would be so different.
Tell us about your NOW (Noodle On The Wall) with your children.
Our NOW is the heart project. I thought of this project as a way to support my kids in knowing how powerful they are. That even one small heart could make a difference in someone's day or even their life! I wanted to teach them that to spread love, means to receive love.

The heart idea came to me and I liked that it had an element of creativity, spirituality and FUN all rolled into one. I asked the kids to think of positive messages that they would love to speak out over a microphone to the whole planet. Messages that they thought would make a difference for people.
Then they wrote those messages on small oak tag hearts. The real fun came when we walked around San Francisco and put the hearts in random unsuspecting places where people would find them. For example, we set out a whole bunch on people's windshields in the "park and ride" and put them inside books in the bookstore. The kids got such a spark of excitement knowing they would surprise someone and maybe put a smile on their face. I loved that they had an opportunity to feel like they could "contribute" and potentially make a real difference for another person.

What role does creativity play in your home?
Creativity, art, dance, song, literature, writing, building --- these are staples in our home. I made a big decision years ago to homeschool my kids so even though it can be hard sometimes not having breaks during the day like other moms, the benefits are that we enjoy so much space and freedom for creativity in our lives. For that I'm incredibly grateful!

What inspires you to take on the creative with your kids?
Creativity is the language of childhood. It's the access point to children. The more I can connect with my kids through the modalities of art, music, imaginative play, etc... the more I have access to their soul space and their deep essence. So that's what inspires me to take on the creative with the kids - the connection and closeness I achieve with them as a result.
How do you nurture your child's creativity?
I give them long unfilled spaces of time with no scheduled activities or events. I leave interesting things out on my kitchen table just to see if it will spark a game or a project. I once left a bunch of worn-out old clothes on the table. I left scissors and clothes pins and safety pins out too. I told the kids they could cut up the clothes and do whatever they wanted. What a blast! I loved that they could feel mischievously free tearing all the clothes apart. They played for hours making fabric ropes and forts and obstacles courses.
But really the MOST effective way I nurture their creativity is I take them to wild spots in nature. I bring my coffee, I bring my book and I just let them explore, be free and create. The imaginative play is most rich in these places. I think it must have something to do with the high vibration and energy of nature!
What sticky noodles can you offer other Moms taking on the creative with their kids?
It's ok for your kids to be bored. Boredom is simply the awareness of a lack of stimulation in the environment. I often tell my children, "It's great that your bored! Being bored is the beginning of a wonderful adventure."
They roll their eyes at me. But you know what, they don't pester and they don't expect me to "entertain" them. I never attempt to remedy their boredom. I think this is a great life lesson. Because adults who are uncomfortable with boredom are obsessive about DO-ing. I think we need to also give space for BE-ing. Boredom is an opportunity to pause, take space, BE with yourself and wait for inspiration to emerge. We live in a culture that programs us to never to be bored. With all the screens, stimulus, noise and things to buy, people are robbed of their inner-connection with themselves.
Boredom is an opening. A quietness. A doorway. But we have to learn not to fight it, just flow with it. It starts in childhood.

What is your child's ideal noodle dish?
Ha! Ha! As creative as they are in life and in play, my kids are the least creative eaters on the planet! I have to sheepishly admit that their fav noodle dish is egg noodles with butter and salt. I'm good at sneaking all sorts of good stuff into their pancakes and smoothies. I've even figured out how to sneak a load of spinach in their turkey meatballs, but I have NOT figured out how to "hide" the good stuff into their noodles. Ideas are WELCOME!! :)
