On our last night of Chanukah, sadly we say goodbye to the potato latkes. Well, at least until Christmas day of course. Yes, in our household, we do the holidays a little different. We celebrate both Chanukah and Christmas, so we like to take the best of both worlds and make our own beautiful traditions. So naturally, the potato latkes are a must have any chance we get.
Another tradition we love, is making both Chanukah and Christmas sugar cookies every year. Since Chanukah came early this year, we get to do it twice! Yipee!
Check out how we took the creativity to a whole new level this year with our Chanukah cookies.

First, my kids rolled the sugar cookie dough. This was pretty much the only step my daughter took. She was having such a blast rolling the dough, that there was no room for anything else in her life at that moment.
Then, my son put on his trusty "Cookie Making Menorah Hat," as I brought out our awesome Chanukah cookie cutters. These include dreidels, menorahs, the Jewish star and a gingerbread man my son calls the Rabbi.
This year, we purchased some edible colored markers. These were awesome and made our cookies extra special because they were jammed packed with creativity.
We added blue icing for any necessary clothing and of course eyebrows. The Rabbi cookie never looked so good.
