Sticks For Kids! LEARNING TO BREATHE WITH YOGA

In a world full of technology, we hardly get a chance to take a moment and actually breathe.  And if it's difficult for us, imagine what it's like for our children.  Taking On The Creative can certainly be less attainable when the space is just not there.  That's why this week on our Sticks For Kids!, I decided to focus on something that allows kids to take a moment without distraction.  What is it?  YOGA.

The benefits of yoga are endless.  Yoga builds strength, focus, confidence and more importantly, it creates space.  Wendy Messano, owner and instructor at Little Shanti Yoga, couldn't agree more.

At Little Shanti Yoga, Wendy helps children not only become aware of their bodies through yoga, but also creates a space for kids to take a moment for themselves.  After all, the everyday routine can feel overwhelming for our children, so teaching them to make time for balance and calm, is a very important lesson Wendy takes to heart.

Taking a step back and giving yourself some “me” time is one of the best and most important habits.  I care very deeply about my health and always have.  I truly feel that if you don’t take care of yourself, than you will never be able to take care of anyone else.  If you feel good, it shows and the people around you will take that energy in.

But Little Shanti Yoga doesn't take itself too seriously.  As a former preschool teacher and natural educator, Wendy Messano has always worked with kids and knows you have to be creative in order keep them engaged.  With themed classes that children can relate to, Wendy combines fun with good habits.
At Little Shanti Yoga, it's simple......it's all about making kids feel good.  We don't talk about the right "Sandskrit" pose names, nor do we align children.  Rather than doing it right, for me it's more important that the kids learn to follow directions and express themselves through movement.  We have a lot of fun!  There is no session where we do not laugh and smile the whole way through.

Welcome to the Noodles On The Wall Blog, a place where I share the trials and tribulations of a creative noodle maker. (That's me!) My life is full of noodles and I've learned it takes a dash of inspiration and a pinch of creativity to throw them up on the wall to see if they stick. Hope you stick around!
