Noodle Thoughts - The Reindeer Mission

The other day, my kids and I watched as two beautiful deer dined in our front yard on some shrubs.  My kids were very excited.  I on the other hand, was mostly hoping they wouldn't eat my hostas again.  As we quietly watched them feast, my son said, "Mama, I can't believe we have reindeer in our front yard!"  Since then, I have found my son with his nose pressed against the window on a few occasions searching and hoping for more "reindeer" to appear.  "Hey," I said.  "After camp today, let's go for a walk.  I think I know a place where we can find reindeer."  With that, my son's eyes lit up as he quickly gathered a few "must haves" for our Reindeer Mission.

 The Reindeer Mission Essentials List

1.  A camera (so we can tell our friends we actually found them).

2.  A telescope (to identify reindeer tracks).

3.  A pad and pencil (for doodling during our quest).

After camp, we packed a ziplock bag with the necessary tools and headed off to find the reindeer!  Since we had seen them in our very own front yard, we chose a path that was close to our house.  It was decided that they could not have gone too far.  After all, we did have really tasty shrubs.

The camera was ready in case the reindeer surprised us.  While we waited, we took some great pictures of rocks.

Then we found where the reindeer actually slept.  Yes, in this pile of sticks.  We were certain of it.

We knew we were getting close when we actually found some tasty shrubs (aka weeds).  The same ones we had in our front yard!

And finally, we found reindeer tracks!

We looked through the telescope to make sure!

And wrote down some very important information about our Reindeer Mission.

Unfortunately, we did not see any reindeer on our Reindeer Mission.
It was dinner time and we got hungry.

Maybe next time :)

Adorable. We have and see the same reindeer here, who also love our vanilla ice cream (hostas).

The next time you go exploring, call me! What a fun experience. I think the deer have moved to the Berkshires. The shrubs are very tasty there also!!

Welcome to the Noodles On The Wall Blog, a place where I share the trials and tribulations of a creative noodle maker. (That's me!) My life is full of noodles and I've learned it takes a dash of inspiration and a pinch of creativity to throw them up on the wall to see if they stick. Hope you stick around!
