Noodle Thoughts - Letting The Oven Break Down

Does anyone have the energizer bunny costume on hand?  I think I need to dive right into that suit because honestly, that's what I've been doing lately.  I've been banging on my drum fast and hard without a pause.  I've been moving from one task to another without skipping a beat.  Essentially, I've been the pink bunny on steroids and quite frankly, I need someone to take the battery out and put it away for a while......

But it wasn't until my oven broke down last week that I realized this is what I needed.   See, while being knee deep in mamahood, I've also been painting my house, writing a blog, recording voice overs, performing in my kid's band and designing logos.  But besides all that, I've also been planning a big bash for my husband's 40th birthday.

Normally, I cook for the shin-digs at our house, but this time, I was forced by my old oven to take a deep breath.  My oven decided to stop working a few days before the party....the nerve!  But as I watched the catered food coming in, I started loving that old thing.  You see, I was actually calm!  Honestly, that never happens with me and parties. I wasn't the frantic, sweaty old mess I usually am right before a party at our house.  It was strange.... especially for my family.

That's when I realized that maybe I expect too much of myself.  I'm always doing a million things at once and taking the hard road.  Sure, there are times when the easy way is not the best choice, but sometimes it is.  Sometimes, giving yourself a break allows you to take a breather and the time to focus on the important things.  So that's exactly what I did at my husband's 40th.  Instead of slaving away in the kitchen, I chatted with friends, shared moments with loved ones and enjoyed my backyard oasis. It was a great party.

So, I guess you could say that I've been inspired to take a breather by.....well......my oven.

As the July 4th holiday approaches, it's time for this energizer bunny to slow down and let the battery recharge.  I'm letting my oven break down and I'm focusing on other important things......my family.  Hope my oven inspires you too.

I'll see you back here next week!

xo,
Elena

Elena, it is great to know that even Super Woman takes time to relax. You really deserve some down time. Your party was a huge success and the food was fantastic, even though it was catered!! Enjoy the Summer with your beautiful family.

Welcome to the Noodles On The Wall Blog, a place where I share the trials and tribulations of a creative noodle maker. (That's me!) My life is full of noodles and I've learned it takes a dash of inspiration and a pinch of creativity to throw them up on the wall to see if they stick. Hope you stick around!
