Mama Noodles - Backwards Cupcake Birthday Party!

Last week I had a birthday.  I planned something very casual and low key. You know, hang with the kids, have dinner with my husband and go to bed early.  Perfect.  Well, when I told my son it was my birthday, he couldn't understand why my friends weren't coming over to celebrate and why we weren't decorating the house.  Most importantly, where was the cake?  Why weren't there cupcakes in the oven.  He was thoroughly confused.  I have to say....I felt pretty lame.

So, once again, my son inspired me to Take On The Creative and have ourselves a cupcake party!  The best part, was that we were going to have a cupcake BEFORE dinner.  WHAT?  My son's eyes were bright with excitement. I was going out for dinner with my husband and the kids were having dinner at Grandma's house, so it was the only way we could blow out the candles together.  I figured, why not!  It's my party!  I can have a cupcake before dinner if I want to.  With that, my son declared that it was........

Mommy's Backwards Cupcake Birthday Party!  

We quickly got cracking on the cupcakes.  It was spur of the moment, so we found random stuff in the pantry to decorate them....gummies, marshmallows and sprinkles.

Both kids took a break for some tasting.  Yup.  They were yummy. 

In fact, they were so yummy that my daughter got a little distracted.

She soon dropped out of the decorating entirely.  Then little miss funny pants started goofing around while my son kept working like a busy bee.  She definitely was not pulling her weight.  

In the end, thanks to my very thoughtful kids, we made some amazing cupcakes and had ourselves a wonderful Backwards Cupcake Birthday Party!  Mmmmmmm........those cupcakes were delicious!

Then we took some over to Grandma and Grandpa's house to 
share the wealth before my daughter got the chance to eat them all.
