As 2013 was coming to a close, I found myself wanting to refocus, make changes and essentially trim the fat. No, I'm not talking about actual weight loss, I'm talking about fat that comes in the form of too many passions and way too many balls juggling in the air. I promised myself that in 2014, I would make a choice and stick to one passion so that I could really focus and make it successful. I felt better for about a second. Then I went into total panic mode as I tried to decide which passion to choose. Luckily, I connected with a dear friend of mine who always seems to come into my life just when I need her. Kim Salter of Design Thoughts Interiors believes........
"You can do more than one thing in life, AND be successful at it!!"
What? Wait a second. Did she just say that? Was she telling me I didn't have to choose? Well, sort of.
When Kim started to move forward with her side business of being a Beachbody Coach while still fully being engaged in Design Thoughts Interiors, she began to struggle.
"How could I have a thousand passions, and make them all happen?"
Sound familiar? I know. Me too. But after meditating and sitting with this question, Kim finally got her answer.
"I realized I didn't have a thousand passions, I had only one.......CONNECTING PEOPLE."
For Design Thoughts Interiors, that meant helping people connect to their space, while Beachbody Coaching meant helping women re-connect or sometimes, connect for the first time, to their authentic selves and BODIES through fitness and health!!
Wow! So as Kim's words stuck, I realized that I did have to choose. Somehow, it didn't feel as daunting though. First, I had to find what Kim likes to call, my passion path.

KIM'S STEPS TO FINDING YOUR PASSION PATH
- EDIT what you love to do until you figure out what your PASSION PATH, what each passion has in common. Once you do that, you can begin to see HOW you can make your passion, come to life. Once you start walking on your passion path, you have tapped into your divine gifts. You know this because no matter how much work there is, no matter how tired or frustrated you are, you still LOVE your actual JOB!
- Allow yourself to GROW. This seems so obvious, but a lot of us decide our future is going to look one way, and when it starts to go a different way, we throw our hands up in frustration. We begin to question our decisions and our beliefs. We need to really tap into the practice of growing. Allow discomfort, allow fear and GROW!!!!
- Get out there and MEET PEOPLE. There are two different groups of people that I think are important. The first group is your target audience, those who are going to actually use your services or products. Make real connections, not just a connection that you assume will lead to a sale, but a genuine connection. The second group are those who are in a similar or the same field. Watch how they do it, see what you connect to and meet other people through them. PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE!!! You are meant to be seen.
So, trim the fat and find the passion thread that will drive your goals and aspirations to a whole new level. Since taking Kim's steps, I'm no longer in panic mode. I found my passion thread, INSPIRING WOMEN AND CHILDREN through creativity. Any dreams that don't connect to that, I'm not choosing this year. They can wait :)
