"When I say be creative, I don't mean you should all go out and become great painters and great poets. I simply mean let your life be a painting, let your life be a poem."

I had a few last minute auditions all over the city yesterday and as luck would have it, all of my babysitters were not available until late afternoon. Thankfully, my son was in school until 3 and my awesome mama-in-law was picking him up. So, it was just me and my 16 month old daughter and a whole lot of slushy-want-to-be-snow-rain. These are the kind of days that I wish I had never gotten out of bed. The last minute crazy schedule, the keeping track of who is watching who and who is picking up who, the rain that won't quit and the unbelievable amount of running I do. Jeez! It's exhausting just explaining it to you.
Honestly though, it does get a little tiresome because I do feel like all I do is RUN. I'm running to the car, running to take my son to school, running to my husband's studio in the city to drop off my daughter, running to an audition, running back to the studio to get my daughter before my husband's meeting and then......repeating that a few more times throughout the day. Seriously, who needs to join a gym.....just go on a few auditions without having a babysitter.
After all the running was over and I was home, my son asked what I did in the city today. I told him I ran a lot. He looked at me a little confused and then giggled, "That's fun." It was then that I realized that although my life can get hectic at times, it actually is fun because I'm being creative and doing something I enjoy. Sure, at times it involves annoying days filled with rainy snow and no babysitters, but it gives me the flexibility to be with my kids and the freedom to spend time with my other noodles.
So, as I ponder over Osho's quote, "When I say be creative, I don't mean you should all go out and become great painters and great poets. I simply mean let your life be a painting, let your life be a poem," I guess you could say my life is a painting with an array of colors. Wether it be creatively juggling a million schedules or throwing a few creative noodles, my life is full of creativity. I'll have to think about the poetic part though. Not sure a commercial audition for Verizon counts.
So, the question is, are you living the creative life you want? If not, RUN and get it!
Throw the noodles.
