You'd be surprised at how many clients I work with who don't actually have a concrete mission statement. They have created a beautiful product or service, but that's as far as they go.
I know for me, it was a bit overwhelming trying to figure out my mission statement. I just knew I was good at creating logos, connecting with people and figuring out what they wanted......but that was about it.

As I fumbled over words and thoughts trying desperately to create an amazing mission statement for Sugar Butter Designs, I realized I was making it too complicated. All I really needed to do was ask myself some questions and oddly enough, they all started with the letter W.
The Three W's......(Why, What and Who.)
• Why am I doing this?
• Why is my work important?
• What will I do to achieve my goals?
• What makes my company unique and able to make a difference?
• Who do I serve?

The Three W's (Why, What and Who) made it easy for me to hone in on my purpose while giving me the internal inspiration and motivation to drive and guide my company forward. It also helped me identify my ideal client, why my company stands out from the rest of the logo design companies out there and how I was going to do that.
So, as you throw your own noodles, ask yourself the Three W's and get clear on your mission statement. It will keep you honest, inspire you, guide you in your decisions and goals and act as a grounding tool when you develop packages and offerings for your clients.
A clear mission statement.......can give your noodle that extra stick too :)
