Noodle Thoughts - Breaking The Rules

There was a time when the type A, obsessive, crazy lady came out in me when Taking On The Creative with my son.  Let's just say that coloring in the lines and glueing little puffy balls got me all bent out of shape.  It definitely became a self awareness exercise as the perfectionist in me struggled when my son strayed from the rules.  But as the projects came and went, I learned that when it comes to Taking On The Creative, rules are meant to be broken.  My son, the creative rule breaker, has once again been my teacher and because of him, I have an easier time letting go and letting art just happen.  I have learned that sometimes, going down a different path can lead you to new, better and unexpected beauty.

This week we decided art was taking on a whole new form in our house.  We wanted to blow bubbles and break all the rules.  So, we got some "bubble juice," as my son calls it and blew bubbles in an unconventional way.

With a bowl of "bubble juice" and a few straws, my son got creative.

I would say the afternoon was jammed packed with some bubble magic.  They just got bigger and better.

Then he decided to add a little paint for a splash of color..........

........and as the bubbles popped, his face got some color too :)

Then I joined in and got some in my eye.  Of course.

Blowing bubbles was never so much fun.  So break the rules and do it the unconventional way.  Let your kids lead the way and you'll be surprised at what they come up with.  Just make sure you close your eyes :)

Welcome to the Noodles On The Wall Blog, a place where I share the trials and tribulations of a creative noodle maker. (That's me!) My life is full of noodles and I've learned it takes a dash of inspiration and a pinch of creativity to throw them up on the wall to see if they stick. Hope you stick around!
