"Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning." -Gloria Steinem
Every new year, I write down my list of dreams and I stick them on my wall so that I can see them every single day. It's a ritual I enjoy. But, as I write my list, I always have the same question running through my mind. "How am I going to make my dreams a reality?" I haven't even started the year and I 'm already putting the pressure on. Then I usually go ahead and edit the list because, "I should probably be more practical. I don't want to feel disappointed if they don't happen."
Huh?
Isn't a dream supposed to be just that? A dream. A wish with endless possibilities. I don't think Christopher Columbus found America by editing his dreams. He certainly didn't set boundaries for himself and thank goodness because we would all be living somewhere else. How about Martin Luther King Jr? He certainly dreamed against all odds and look where we are today because of him.

As 2012 began, I decided to stop the insanity. Something clicked and I ceased being "practical." As I sat in front of my computer every night after the kids went to bed, I looked at my complete and "impractical" list as not only a reminder of what I wanted to accomplish, but as a recap of what I was CAPABLE of.
We all hopefully have a million dreams, wishes, and desires. Having them is what makes us move forward. It's important to have dreams because they are a form of our passions. And without passion. Well, you're just not living.
I am proud to say that I made all of my "impractical" dreams come true in 2012. I started this blog, I taught myself logo design and created a logo design company called Sugar Butter Designs, I took a children's book writing course and I began a kids band called, The Hiccups! with my husband. Are these dreams in full swing? No. But they are happening. They are touchable and they are coming true.
So dream BIG this year and take the "practical" out of the equation when you throw your noodles. Remember, you are CAPABLE of anything. You just have to dream it.
