Our latest Stick Of The Week! is Nicole Duff. Nicole is in the NOW as Owner and Designer of Mood Design Studio, creating happy surroundings through vibrant and exciting home accessories.
I am a dreamer and an eternal optimist. I was a nurse before this endeavour! I loved caring for people but I always had this feeling like this wasn’t all that life had in store for me, I just kept an open heart and followed the path that lit up for me.
Tell us about your NOW (Noodle On The Wall).
My NOW is Mood Design Studio, a small – albeit quickly growing- business devoted to creating fun and fresh lighting and home accents that will "Liven Up Your Living Space!"

Is your NOW simmering, al dente or fully cooked and why?
My now is just simmering. Although business is going well, I feel like I have just started out! I am just beginning to understand the business world, and I have GRANDIOUS plans for Mood Design Studio’s future! Right now I design, create, and sell lamps, lamp shades, pendant lighting, throw pillows, and accent chairs AND I am also working on creating my own fabric designs as well!

What recipes can you give other Creative Moms Taking On The Creative?
If you are dreaming of taking on the creative, GO FOR IT! This life is not a dress rehearsal; we only get to live it once. You DESERVE to have your noodle and EAT IT TOO!
I’ll tell you from experience; there is nothing better than being at home with your kids and cooking your creative noodle at the same time!
What motivated you to throw your noodle?
I am a very stubborn person and I don’t necessarily like to do what I am told. I am a bit of a rebel and once I get my mind set on something it’s hard to get me to think of anything else. (Ask my husband, he’ll tell you!) I was creating things and selling them quickly; there was no turning back once I got started and realized people liked what I was doing.
What inspires you as a Mom and as a creative person?
Nothing inspires me as a mom and creative person as much as my own kids. They are just totally themselves. They are funny and sweet and kind. My daughter – who is 4 – is also very creative. She loves to draw and color and so we sit together and create. She will be coloring in her Barbie coloring books and I will be sketching up a new fabric design. I often look over at her pictures and get inspired by her color choices and how she is so uninhibited.

How do you juggle Mamahood and your NOW?
Juggling my mommahood and my NOW can be really tricky, especially since both of my kids are still at home with me. I try to get online work done first thing in the morning during my first cup of coffee (that never seems to stay warm) and then sew pillows and/or make lamp shades in the afternoon while my son naps and daughter has “quiet time." Then again after my kids have gone to bed for the night, I finish up packing orders and prepping for the post office the next day.
What is your ultimate pasta dish?
My ultimate pasta dish – like everything else in life – is FULL of color! And OF COURSE a little spice : )
