Over the holidays, we got our son this awesome rug from Ikea that he loves to play cars with. It's pretty fantastic with a race track, highway, lights and signs. But the other day, my son decided that the rug was "too flat" and that he wished it had buildings. So, that was that. We had ourselves a project to do and it was called "Building Cereal Box City." Thank goodness because the weather outside was frightful and we had nothing else to do.
First, we went through the recycling bin and found some cereal boxes.
Then we cut them in half.
Then we cut them in half.
We dug up some paint and started giving our "Cereal Box City" a little color. I'm not sure where my daughter found the sand paper block, but she decided to do a little sanding instead.
We also cut out some windows and
placed our buildings on the rug for some playing.

But.......
Our dog Otis invaded our city and got hungry.
He didn't actually eat the buildings but we had a blast pretending that he did. It was like a King Kong scenario but more like King Otis.

I'd say "Cereal Box City" was a big hit!
