"The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers. But above all, the world needs dreamers who do." -Sarah Ban Breathnack
I got the green thumb about five years ago when we moved to our home from the big city. I decided then that gardening was going to be my thing. Something I could create from nothing, nurture and watch grow (sort of like motherhood). So every Spring, I move a flower over here, add a shrub or two over there and, essentially, I dream. I envision what my garden will look like by the end of the summer, what it will smell like and how it will bring me total relaxation when I take the time to admire it over a glass of wine. Of course, every year I forget to water it, my dog pees on it, my son digs holes in it and in the end, there really isn't much to admire. So, I drink my glass of wine inside.
My garden oasis is never quite what I envision, but still I dream and most importantly, I don't give up. I dive into those garden gloves every single year. And let me tell you, when I'm digging in the dirt, I'm dreaming BIG. Oh yes! I keep making the garden bigger! Don't ask. Soon we won't have to mow the lawn because my entire yard will be a sea of flowers.

I've always been a BIG dreamer though. When I was in middle school, I thought I was going to be discovered as the great child inventor at the Invention Fair. I filled one of those tiny creamers you get at the gas station or diner with water and added two tylenol on top and called it Meds On The Go. Genius right? I actually took the time to make ten of them. I didn't win and I didn't get discovered, but my Mom kept the extras in her purse for headaches. Then when I got bored one summer, I decided I was going to invest and run a T-Shirt business with my very own custom puffy paint art. I think I sold two. One to my neighbor and one to our Spanish exchange student. We had boxes of Puffy Paint T-Shirts in the shed for years.
Even though my dreams didn't always pan out the way I planned, at least I tried. And isn't it better to give it a go than not at all? Anyone can have a great noodle boiling in the pot, but not everyone gets the strainer out, drains the pasta and takes the time to throw it. And throwing the noodle is the best part! Not only does it give you a surge of energy and a purpose, it also puts your noodle out there. It moves you forward. And life is so much better when you're in motion......especially when you're moving towards something you believe in.
So dream it and do it! You don't have to get carried away like me. Start with a small dream. Maybe just a little garden or a tiny noodle that you've been stirring. The important thing is to dream it, do it and keep on moving.
